This imposing building is an important symbol of the Jewish faith in Berlin. Located on Oranienburger Str., it was nearly destroyed during World War II, but rebuilt and reopened in 1995. Although today it largely serves as a museum and an information center, there is a worship chamber located within the building. It, like most buildings connected with the Jewish religion, is under constant guard by the local police.
