The Brandenburg Gate is one of the most recognizable structures in Berlin. In fact, it has become to be what one would consider to be the icon or symbol of the city of Berlin. It stands at the head of Unter den Linden Street, in the midst of the historic old government quarter. Nearby are the Reichstag Building, the French Embassy, the new USA Embassy, and theBritish Embassy…..not to mention to Adlon Hotel and the Tiergarten. It has undergone a restoration in recent years, and it has been closed to all motor vehicle traffic, although it is still open to pedestrian traffic, of course.
