This large square in the eastern part of the city was once the “center” of the divided city. It had been variously described as shabby, run-down, and an eye sore. Quite frankly, I never thought it was any of those things…..well, maybe run down and shabby. But it has undergone its own rennovation. Most of the buildings have been rebuilt or refurbished, and a few new buildings have even been added. The main attraction these days seems to be the large open-air market which seems to be present on a fairly regular basis…..maybe every day, although I don’t think we were there every day to check.
